Kristin Nordhøy is a Norwegian artist who focuses on transforming everyday household objects into beautiful monuments of contemporary art. Her work shows careful attention to form and a delicate handling of the material. Cups in Circles (above) transforms plastic drinking cups into a fluid sculpture that at a distance would be impossible to guess its material construction. Force of Gravity (below) operates in a similar fashion. After carefully arranging masking tape in vertical stripes a long a black wall, Nordhøy steps back and allows nature to run its course, peeling the tape off of the wall and creating a heaping, twisted mound of tape.

Much like America’s Tara Donovan, Nordhøy has a way of finding beauty in anything and extracting the physical properties of these mundane objects to create beautiful art.
